ABOUT OUR COACH

The founder of this website is an excellent professional Badminton NIS coach by himself and a potential, decisive, dedicated and an enthusiastic Kannadiga being none other than S.N.SANJAY.

Matri

Brought up in the family of sportsperson, his father LateShri.B.Shankarnarayanappa an International Volleyball player who played for the country at the Paris World championships (1956), Asian games at Tokyo (1958) and played test matches against the visiting Japanese team at Delhi and Kolkatta (1962). Later he became the chief-coach of Volleyball at the Bangalore SAINIS and retired as the Deputy Dean of SAINIS (Southern center) in 1994 His sister is a SAINIS coach in Volleyball. Our coach had the lean towards Volleyball always as it was in his blood.

“As he believes that one who desires to excel in life should endeavor in those fields that give the best out of them and enjoy their work”.

Finishing College from Bangalore, in Science, he pursued his studies in the field of Sports, (Though he had a chance to join The College of Engineering at Ahmedabad in Electronics).

He pursued his study in the field of his passion (Badminton) so off he went to Lakshmibai National College Of Physical Education L.N.C.P.E Gwalior (M.P) which is the only college in the whole of Asia which provides Professional Degree in Physical Education. He excelled in both the sport (Volleyball and Badminton) but took up Badminton as his main game as it was an individual sport. There he completed his Bachelor of Physical Education degree (B.P.E) with flying colors in Badminton as his specialization (taken in 3rd year degree).

To pursue his studies he continued the post graduation in Master of Physical Education (M.P.E) with Sports Psychology as his main subject for research. He completed a thesis work comparing the Kinesthetic Perception and Reaction Time of athletes and non-athletes and proved that athletes were better in both the categories.

It was at the same college where the coach found out that without the knowledge of Physical Education it would be difficult to train athletes in any sports and games.

In the college he underwent rigorous physical and theoretical challenges as students from all over the world compete with each other to gain the top grade.

There he learnt social sciences like Anatomy/Physiology/Anthropometry/Tests and Measurements, Kinesiology, Sociology and Psychology.

He learnt about other games and sports and he was given a chance to be part of the Bharatiyam team, which performed at the prestigious Asian games in New Delhi in calisthenics exercises.

During his study of M.P.E he was flooded with offers from The Birla group/the MP state association/Delhi state association for coaching assignments for children of various categories, which he completed successfully and brought laurels to the college which had taught him so much about sports training in detail.

After completing his studies at LNCPE Gwalior he went on a year work project with various companies in North India training players in the field of Badminton.

“HE BELIEVED IN DOING ONE THING AT A TIME, AIM AT ONE GOAL” AND HIS GOAL WAS to get the professional degree in the field of coaching from the prestigious Sports Authority of India (Patiala) center which offers a diploma and the certificate to join the elite list of coaches of India.

So he underwent his training stint at SAI National Institute Of Sports (NIS) Patiala the coaching diploma and came out as the topper for the particular batch. He returned to Bangalore with all knowledge from various institutions to train the players of Karnataka state.

“IF YOU KEEP WAITING FOR JUST THE RIGHT TIME, YOU MAY NEVER BEGIN. BEGIN NOW BEGIN WHERE YOU ARE WITH WHAT YOU ARE”

As soon as he came to Bangalore, PPBA, the esteem organization run by Mr.Prakash Padukone asked him to work for them and help them train players under various categories.

“PERFECTION CONSISTS NOT ONLY IN DOING EXTRAORDINARY THINGS, BUT ALSO IN DOING ORDINARY THINGS EXTRA-ORDINARILY WELL”

AND THUS instantly he proved by showing result that had eluded them(PPBA and the State association) by producing National champions both in U-13 (girls’ singles) U-16 and U-19 (boys’ singles). Then he worked with the state association (Karnataka Badminton Association) and was the chief coach of the state for a long time. He led various age categories of Karnataka state team and gave the state association the boost that was required to set an example as to why qualified coaches are better.

The urge to start his own school of Badminton was always there in him from the beginning and so he quit the Association and PPBA to start his own school of badminton.

“ALL THE OPPORTUNITIES IN THE WORLD ARE WAITING TO BE GRASPED BY PEOPLE WHO ARE ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT THEIR WORK. NO PERSON WHO IS ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT THEIR WORK HAS TO FEAR FROM LIFE”. And thus started the Sanjay School of Badminton at Reliance Club close to shoppers stop on Bannerghatta road where training is given to all age categories of players.

Training is imparted to beginners on daily basis (mon-fri) in the evenings. And coaching is also given for state/national/international players at the same premises. Special classes are conducted for house-wives / software techies / elderly person with different batch timings.

As the saying goes “AIM FOR THE STARS, YOU WILL NOT HIT THEM, BUT YOU WILL GO HIGHER THAN THE FELLOW WHO ONLY AIMS AT THE LIGHT POST” and so the urge to have his own website began and few software techies came forward to help him out in constructing a site for him. So the work for the website started.

Mr. Sanjay has come a long way as a coach /friend/teacher in helping people of Bangalore and the children who desire to achieve international glory by playing for the country.

HE ALSO DEVELOPS AN “ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE” .SAYING THANKYOU TO EVERYONE AND especially “RELIANCE CLUB” AND THE TECHIES NAMELY SRINIVASA PRASAD,  who came forward in helping him establish himself as the front runner in training future badminton stars of India.

This website is dedicated to his father late Shri.B.Shankarnarayanappa and his mother Mrs.Vijaya Shankar who are his pillars of strength and to his two sisters who have always been there when he needed them the most.
